How pickup works
Picking up your RV or motorhome is a seamless process at Sunshine Shift. We utilize specialized RV-transport flatbeds for larger vehicles, ensuring safe and secure transport to our facility. If your RV is parked at a storage lot, we will coordinate with the facility to schedule the pickup. It’s important to note that vehicle length and height are crucial, as most states enforce a maximum clearance of 13'6”. If you’re not on-site during the pickup, our team will handle the logistics to ensure your donation travels safely to its new home.
What drives donation value
The condition of house-systems in your RV greatly impacts its donation value. Key components, including the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning, are assessed for their functionality. Vehicles with water damage experience significant devaluation, while those with recent maintenance records can command higher appraisals. In the world of recreational vehicles, seasonality plays a role; spring auctions tend to showcase the highest values, making timely donations more beneficial. For classic RVs, an appraisal by a qualified appraiser is essential for IRS documentation.
Documentation you need
- Vehicle title
- Bill of Sale (if applicable)
- Recent service records
- IRS Form 8283 Section B (for classic RVs)
- Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) for off-road vehicles
Fort Myers specifics
In Fort Myers, the DMV requires specific documentation for RVs and motorhomes to facilitate their donation. It's crucial to have a clear title, as Florida law mandates proper ownership documentation. If you do not have the title, a bill of sale may be needed. Additionally, keep in mind that while we accept state-titled vehicles, we cannot process donations without complete paperwork. Understanding these requirements will ease the donation experience and ensure compliance with Florida regulations.
